No. 2 Ohio State will put its undefeated record on the line again this week with a road trip to Maryland. The Buckeyes have dominated the Terrapins since entering the Big Ten, but will that continue on Saturday?
Ohio State is coming off a 56-14 thrashing over Indiana last weekend, and it has retained its spot in the college football playoff standings. The offense proved that his struggles against Northwestern were just a weather-induced fluke, and wide receiver Marvin Harrison Jr. continued his conference dominance. Now, the Buckeyes will look to capitalize on a favorable game against a Maryland secondary that had some trouble against opposing passing attacks.
Maryland has had a tough few weeks. It’s lost back-to-back road games to Wisconsin and Penn State, and now Ohio State is coming to College Park, Maryland. To make matters worse, quarterback Taulia Tagovailoa is going through a crisis right now. Tagovailoa hasn’t completed more than 50% of his passes in the team’s last two games, and he’s thrown for a combined 151 yards, one touchdown and one interception. It won’t be any easier against the Buckeyes.
Below is more information on how to watch this Big Ten East battle.

Ohio State vs. Maryland: Players to watch
Emeka Egbuka, Ohio State WR: Ohio State has an embarrassment of riches at wide receiver, and Egbuka is one of the team’s biggest stars. He and Marvin Harrison Jr. are an unstoppable duo on the edge in the passing game, and they give quarterback CJ Stroud a pair of elite options when he comes back to pass. Egbuka had 51 passes for 832 receiving yards and eight touchdowns. He even ran for 80 yards and a pair of scores.
Maryland QB Taulia Tagovailoa: Tagovailoa haven’t been particularly sharp in their last two games, but that’s partly down to a lingering injury. Still, when Tagovailoa is at his best, he can give Maryland the chance to hang in almost any game he plays. If Tagovailoa can get healthy in time for this game against Ohio State, he could be a great challenge for the Buckeyes secondary. Either way, it will be interesting to see if Tagovailoa can get back on track after a tough time.
Ronnie Hickman, State S of Ohio: Ohio State’s defense has improved greatly this season, and Hickman has been a part of it. In 10 games, Hickman had 41 tackles, five passes defended and one interception. Hickman and the rest of the Ohio State high school will have to make sure Tagovailoa doesn’t find his rhythm in time to scare the Buckeyes.
Prediction Ohio State vs. Maryland
Odds via Caesars Sportsbook
On paper, this is a massive shift in favor of Ohio State. The Buckeyes have emphatically outplayed the Terrapins since 2014. Ohio State has won all seven matchups, and most of those wins have been blowouts. The biggest concern for Ohio State is that it’s the definition of a trap game with Michigan on deck. Still, it’s hard to see the Buckeyes falter at this point when they’ve looked like one of the best teams in the country all year. CJ Stroud and the Ohio State offense roll as the defense stops Taulia Tagovailoa. Prediction: Ohio State -27.5
