TWO people have been killed and a third person hospitalized after a car crash in Somerset this morning.

Cops have confirmed the death of an unnamed man and woman after their Vauxhall Agila collided with another car on the A38 at around 11.20am.

They also said the driver of the other vehicle, an Audi Q7, was taken to hospital.

A spokesman for Avon and Somerset Police said: “Police are at the scene of a two-car collision in which two people have unfortunately died.

“It happened on the A38 between Tarnock and Lower Weir, near Axbridge.

“Although official identification has not yet been completed, their next of kin are being looked after by a family liaison officer. Our thoughts are with them.”

The couple reportedly died at the scene of the accident.

The spokesperson added that the road remains closed while investigators examine the scene and vehicles are recovered.

Motorists are asked to avoid the area.
