A 26-year-old high-profile gang member was shot in the head in a broad daylight attack in the East Village on Thursday, officers said.
The victim – an alleged member of the Money Boy Gang whose name has not been released pending family notification – was ambushed just after 1:30 p.m. on Avenue C and East 12th Street, indicated the authorities and sources.
The shooter struck him four times in the head as he exited a building, according to cops and sources.
Video reviewed by investigators shows the shooter stalking back and forth after shooting the victim and then kicking him several times in the head, sources said.
The victim was rushed to Bellevue Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Police found a pool of blood at the scene, along with three 9mm casings and two unfired 9mm cartridges, the sources said.
A Citi bike was also found at the scene, but it’s unclear if anyone was riding the bike during the shooting.
Records show the victim was granted parole last year in connection with an attempted murder conviction.
The suspect was identified as a 21-year-old man, but no arrests had been made as of Friday morning, police sources said.
