Callum Styles has been granted permission to complete his move from Barnsley to Millwall.

According to Barnsley Chroniclethe Hungary international has been cleared by the EFL to complete his loan move to the Lions.

Despite some uncertainty surrounding the details of the move, it has now been reported that the deal does not include an option to buy for the Championship club.

Millwall made a late move for the left-back on the final day of the transfer window.

It was unclear whether the deal had been completed in time before the 11pm deadline, but the deal has now been cleared by the EFL to move forward.

Styles is one of several key absences the Tykes suffered after being relegated last season.

He joins the likes of Callum Brittain, Cauley Woodrow and Carlton Morris in leaving Oakwell during the summer.

Michal Helik was also out on deadline day, leaving a Barnsley side currently 16th in the League One table.

Michael Duff’s side have scored seven points in the first six games of the season.

Next up for Barnsley is an away trip to face Sheffield on Wednesday Saturday afternoon.

The verdict

The loss of Styles from Barnsley will be a blow to their promotion bid, with the 22-year-old a key player for the team in recent years.

The Tykes have had a tough window as they suffer the consequences of a fall to the Third Division.

Duff will have his work cut out if the club are to earn promotion straight to the Championship.

But Millwall will now sign a talented player who deserves to compete at the second tier.
