Hector Bellerin has posted an emotional farewell message to Arsenal fans after joining boyhood club Barcelona on a free transfer.
The 27-year-old secured his return to Camp Nou on deadline day and signed a one-year contract with the La Liga giants.
Bellerin made 239 appearances for the Gunners after joining Arsenal from Barca in 2011.
He spent last season on loan at Spanish club Real Betis and hasn’t featured in any of Arsenal’s first five Premier League games despite his pre-season impression.
After leaving Arsenal, Bellerin posted on social media: “Hello Gunners. I feel like it was only a few years ago when I landed in London for the very first time.
“From day one I felt truly at home and I’ve said time and time again how this city has shaped me and how much I owe it.”
“It is with great sadness that today I say goodbye to this club, the supporters, the staff, the players and our family all together.”
“There have been ups, so highs, and downs, so lows, but I have truly enjoyed every experience I have had with you Gunners.
“It hasn’t always been easy being an Arsenal player for the past 11 years, but it’s always been an honor to carry the weight of that badge and defend it nearly 250 times in front of you all.”
“I want to thank Arsene, Francis, the late Steve Rowley, Steve Bould, Neil Banfield, Unai Emery, Freddie Ljungberg and Mikel.
“Thank you to the staff who work tirelessly to have everything ready when we step onto the pitch.”
“Physios, conditioning trainers, doctors, chefs, kitmen, cleaners, security and all the other members of this family.
“Thank you to the players who made my stay here unforgettable.
“And above all, thank you Gunners, thank you for your continued support throughout these years, for your support in good and bad times, for the pleasure of playing in this magnificent stadium and for sharing each stage together. of this journey which is mine.
‘With the sadness of a goodbye, but the excitement of a new beginning, I say THANK YOU to you all. Once a gunner, always a gunner.
Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta added: “Today we say goodbye to Hector and thank him so much for his loyalty and commitment to Arsenal Football Club.”
“In his 11 years with Arsenal, Hector won three FA Cups and made nearly 250 appearances – such a contribution to the club.
“I am privileged to have played in the same team as Hector for three seasons, to wear the Arsenal shirt and to share many great moments together on and off the football pitch.
“We thank you Hector and wish you and your family the best for your return to Barcelona.”
