Crystal Dynamics heard you “loud and clear”, Legacy of Kain series looks set to make a comeback

It looks like the Legacy of Kain series might be about to make a comeback, some 19 years after the last entry was released. Following its purchase of the venerable vampire IP in recent months, developer Crystal Dynamics asked fans whether or not they would like to see the series return and what form that return should take. The answer, perhaps unsurprisingly, was a resounding “yes”.

Over 100,000 people responded to the survey, and of those, over 70,000 completed it in full. Apparently, when video game companies put out these kinds of quizzes, they’re lucky to get a few thousand respondents at best, so it’s a sign that the Legacy of Kain fandom is alive and well.

As transcribed by VGC, Crystal Dynamics CEO Phil Rogers said on Embracer Group’s recent earnings call that “we’ve seen the news of our survey being shared on social and news platforms, and we really felt it was a great way to rekindle that community of passionate fans with this legendary series of PC and console games. Rest assured, we hear you loud and clear, and we’ll continue to update you on future possibilities for Legacy of Kain.

If you didn’t know, the series began with Blood Omen: Legacy of Kain, which was released for PS1 in 1996. A sequel, titled Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver, followed in 1999 and is arguably the most famous of the series. franchise. Soul Reaver was directed by Amy Hennig, who went on to write and direct the Uncharted series with developer Naughty Dog.
