McIlory caught on camera talking about West Ham en route to FedEx win

Golfing superstar Rory McIlory was filmed talking about West Ham as they travel to their £15m FedEx Cup triumph over the weekend.

West Ham have a long and illustrious list of celebrity fans and count several top golf stars among them.

Of Oscar-winning actress Dame Helen Mirren to English rugby boss Eddie Jones ( and Her Majesty The Queen herself, the list of famous West Ham Hammers fans is long and star-studded.

Celebrity West Ham supporters include a WWE superstar, six elite boxers, TV presenters, politicians, countless world famous actors and even Barack Obama.

Top golf stars Billy Horschel, Francesco Molinari and Paul McGinley are also big West Ham fans.

It looks like West Ham are really huge everywhere they go.

Because even famous Man United fan McIlroy wants to know more about the Hammers.

Golfing superstar McIlory was filmed talking about West Ham as they travel to their £15million FedEx Cup triumph over the weekend.

McIlroy defeated Scottie Scheffler to earn his historic third FedExCup victory at the Tour Championship in East Lakes, Atlanta, Georgia on Sunday.

Meanwhile, over 4,000 miles away in Birmingham, West Ham secured their first victory of the season against Aston Villa.

In the midst of his fight to win the FedEx and collect the massive £15m prize, McIlroy was more interested in how West Ham got along against Villa.

As the camera zoomed in on Scheffler and McIlroy walking along the fairway as coverage headed into a commercial break, the commentator remarks that the American “only leads by three”.

McIlroy can then be heard telling his caddy: “West Ham beat Villa 1-0.”

They indeed have Rory, thanks to their first goal of the season – a deflected effort from Pablo Fornals.

The Hammers followed that up with a positive second-half performance and a 1-1 draw against Spurs on Wednesday night.
