No replacement has yet been named for Prasidh

Prasidh Krishna has been left out of the Serie A between India A and New Zealand, which is currently underway in Bengaluru. He suffers from back problems and did not take part in the first four-day test which started on Thursday (September 1).

Sources within the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) have revealed that Krishna (26) has back spasms and will not take part in any of the matches. His unavailability, known on the eve of the current match, left India A without an experienced leader.

The team, led by Priyank Panchal, entered with four bowlers, Mukesh Kumar, Yash Dayal, Arzan Nagwaswalla and Kuldeep Yadav. Part-time Tilak Varma featured in a few overs on the first day that ended with the visitors, who opted to bat, finishing 156 for 5 in 61 overs.

There are two more four-day games in the series – September 8 to September 15. A decision has still not been made on whether the coaches will have to name a replacement. There may be consultation with team management, led by VVS Laxman, before this call is taken.

Apart from the three four-day matches, the New Zealand A team will also play three one-day matches, all at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai, on September 22, 25 and 27.
