Sachin Tendulkar Returns as India Legends Captain for RSWS Season 2

Master Blaster Sachin Tendulkar will lead the defending champions India Legends in the second edition of the Road Safety World Series (RSWS) which will take place from September 10 to October 1, 2022 in Kanpur, Raipur, Indore and Dehradun. Kanpur will host the opener and Raipur will host both semi-finals and the final.

Tendulkar had led India Legends to victory in the RSWS inaugural season with victory over Sri Lanka Legends in the final. The season had to end over two years due to the Covid-19 pandemic. The first season, which started in 2020, was put on hiatus due to the pandemic as the country suffered lockdowns before resuming in 2021.

New Zealand legends are the new team for this edition and they will join legends from India, Australia, Sri Lanka, West Indies, South Africa, Bangladesh and England during of the 22-day event played primarily to raise awareness of road safety in the country. and around the world.

The Road Safety World Series (RSWS) is supported by the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways and the Ministry of Information and Technology and Youth and Sports, Government of India. 27th Sports, backed by US company 27th Investments, is the exclusive marketing rights holder for the league, while Professional Management Group (PMG) is the managing partner for the event.

The goal of the Road Safety World Series is to bring about social change in the country and to change people’s outlook on road safety. As cricket is the most watched sport in the country and cricketers are regarded as idols by many, this league will work as an ideal platform to influence and change the mindset of people towards -vis their behavior on the roads.

Every year India loses a decent sized European nation on its roads. In India, a person dies every four minutes. Out of a hundred people who die in the world, 30 are Indians. It is more alarming that according to the World Research Institute, the death toll in road accidents will reach up to 2.2 million every year and 50% will be Indians. Every year, about 150,000 people are killed and more than 450,000 people are seriously injured in our country in road accidents.
