WARRINGTON Wolves promising showdown Riley Dean will once again boost his match experience in the Betfred Championship next year.

The Wire has reached an agreement to grant regular title contenders Featherstone Rovers a season-long loan.

Dean spent time with Newcastle Thunder in the second half of last season, as well as York City Knights and Dewsbury Rams in 2021.

He will continue to train full-time with the Wolves first team and head coach Daryl Powell will have a two-week recall option if Riley is needed in primrose and blue at any point in the season.

The move comes on the heels of England Knights back rower Ellis Longstaff on loan for the 2023 season to the Salford Red Devils.

Dean has made six appearances in the Warrington top flight this year but his loan spells have come as Powell felt he was unlikely to be ready for weekly action at elite Super League level just yet.

He scored a try in his last appearance on Wire, in the 24-18 defeat at Leeds on August 19.

Probably his best Super League performance to date was when he assisted four tries in the 32-10 win over Huddersfield Giants on April 23.

The six-footer, a member of the Brooksbank School team in Elland who won the Year 11 men’s national title in 2017, made his first-team debut on Wire two years later against St Helens.

He was named captain of the Academy team in 2020 but their season had to be scrapped due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Dean’s CV also shows him playing for the Siddal club in his hometown of Halifax before turning professional.
