The Queen Consort will appear in a one-off special from Paul O’Grady’s hit TV show For The Love Of Dogs to mark 160 years of Battersea Dogs and Cats Home.

The festive episode will see Camilla, a longtime patron and advocate for the animal welfare charity, host a garden party at Clarence House in her previous role as Duchess of Cornwall, to celebrate the milestone anniversary.

Later in the hour-long TV special, the royal will join presenter O’Grady at the Brands Hatch site in Battersea to meet some of the abandoned dogs who are struggling to be rehomed and help with their care and recovery. treatment in the hope that they will find a new home first. Christmas.

O’Grady, who is an ambassador for the organisation, said: “In the 11 years I have filmed at Battersea, I have never known it to be so busy.

“Worryingly there are a lot of dogs here who would be classified as difficult to keep. Disabled dogs, blind dogs, etc., we have them here now.

At the top of O’Grady’s foster list is a blind Jack Russell, a Giant Schnauzer with a life-threatening stomach problem, and a puppy battling every chance of survival.

Battersea Brands Hatch opened in 1999 and helps dogs and cats suffering from stress or anxiety in busy central London.

It is surrounded by 12 acres of fields and has been home to around 3,000 dogs and cats in the past five years alone.

For The Love Of Dogs has won numerous awards over the years, including three National Television Awards and four TV Choice Awards.

The series, based at Battersea Dogs and Cats Home, has captured the hearts of the nation with its moving stories of dogs looking for a second chance at life.
