Man caught selling cocaine at Chester pub to be sentenced

A CRIMINAL caught selling a Class A drug in a Chester pub is to be sentenced in Crown Court later this month.

Warren Thomas Debnam, 36, previously of Ffordd Boydell, Connah’s Quay but currently a prisoner at HMP Berwyn, pleaded guilty at Chester Magistrates’ Court on Friday September 2 to the charge of possession with intent to supply cocaine.

Debnam appeared in court via video link to the prison.

Prosecuting Laura Simpson said the case was not suitable for sentencing in magistrates’ court due to the seriousness of the charge, and that Debnam should be remanded to Chester Crown Court.

The court heard that Debnam played a “significant role” in supplying the drug, distributing it directly to users.

Police had received a call on April 28, 2021 that Debnam was selling the Class A drugs while at the Saddle Inn in Chester.

Officers arrived at the pub and seized a quantity of cocaine from Debnam, along with a “burner” phone.

CCTV footage at the pub showed Debnam selling drugs to a woman.

He had 19 previous convictions for 43 offenses, including four for drug possession.

Debnam will be sentenced at Chester Crown Court on September 30. He has been remanded in custody until then.
