Residents of Hereford went without phones and internet for days

PEOPLE living in part of Hereford have been without phones or internet for almost a month.

Joy Jones said she and her neighbors at four other homes in Queensway, College Estate, north Hereford, were struggling after their internet and telephone lines unexpectedly went down.

It was 26 days ago.

Ms Jones said she had health issues and feared the issue would cut her panic button if she fell or needed help at home.

Ms Jones said she was on a different broadband provider to her neighbours, but they had gone to fiber company Zzoomm, which she said had been doing recent work in the area.

They also contacted broadband maintenance company Openreach, which is responsible for the area in the area, and said they were aware of the issue.

An Openreach spokesperson said: “We are truly sorry for the disruption here.

“One of our cables was badly damaged and needs to be replaced.

“It’s a big job, which requires us to dig to find the cable.

“This work takes place tomorrow, after which we will repair the damage and reconnect everyone as quickly as possible.”
