Meghan dropped the jaws of the world this week, claiming a South African Lion King cast member told her her nuptials to Harry were celebrated like Nelson Mandela’s release from prison.

She told US magazine The Cut: “He looked at me, and he’s like the light.

“He said, ‘I just need you to know: when you married into this family, we rejoiced in the streets like we did when Mandela was released from prison.’”

But in an exclusive interview with GB News’ Dan Wootton, Mandela’s grandson disputed that.

Appearing on Dan Wootton Tonight, he said: “There weren’t any celebrations that you would have seen on a grand scale like you might compare to Madiba coming out.

“I have said many times that if Madiba’s release was to be compared to anything, it would be the abolition of slavery.

“It’s the only thing we can somehow overcome what our struggle for the celebration of liberation could be compared to.”

When asked by GB News’ Dan if he would be open to meeting Meghan, Madla replied: “Absolutely!”

And, in the same interview, Mandla Mandela extended an invitation for Harry to visit his homeland.

He added: “Twice when Prince Harry visited South Africa, I met him in Cape Town to discuss his philanthropic work.

“I also got to meet him in Devon, when he was championing an HIV awareness campaign.

“These are the issues that we would like to continue to support.”

And he concluded with an open invitation to the Duke of Sussex, saying: “At every opportunity when Harry comes to South Africa, we are always available to embrace him and help carry on his mother’s legacy.”
