Netflix has released two new images of Evan Peters playing Jeffrey Dahmer ahead of Ryan Murphy’s limited series, Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story.

The snaps show the St. Louis native, 35, as the infamous serial killer – who murdered 17 people between 1978 and 1991 – wearing glasses with a retro striped polo shirt with a belt and blue jeans.

Peters is blatant in promotional footage as he plays Dahmer, who worked at a chocolate factory in Milwaukee.

The limited series will tell Dahmer’s story from the perspective of his victims and explore key mistakes made by Wisconsin police in handling the investigation into the notorious mass murderer, who made national headlines for acts of cannibalism and necrophilia involving its victims.

The show also features actors Niecy Nash, Penelope Ann Miller, Shaun J. Brown, Colin Ford and Richard Jenkins, with directors Paris Barclay, Carl Franklin and Janet Mock.

Miller and Jenkins will play Dahmer’s parents, while Nash will play Dahmer’s neighbor, Glenda Cleveland, who unsuccessfully tried to report his bizarre behavior to authorities.

Peters has previously worked with Murphy on a number of projects, including nine of American Horror Story’s 10 seasons, as well as the Pose series.

In April, Peters told Variety about the daunting task he undertook to thoroughly research Dahmer for the role.

“I’ve read so much, I’ve watched so much, I’ve seen so much, and at a certain point you have to say, ‘Okay, that’s enough,'” he said. “There are beautifully written scripts. You can have all the backstory you want, but at the end of the day, we don’t make documentaries.

“It’s more about maintaining the idea and the thrust of why you’re telling the story and always having that as your guide.”

Dahmer in 1992 was found guilty of 16 murders for which he was charged and sentenced to 16 life terms in prison. He was bludgeoned to death with a metal bar in November 1994 by Christopher Scarver, another inmate at Columbia Correctional Institution in Portage, Wisconsin.

Dahmer’s horrific story was previously told in the 2002 film Dahmer, in which Jeremy Renner played the lead role; as well as 2017’s My Friend Dahmer, in which Ross Lynch played a teenage version of the budding serial killer.

Murphy excelled at chronicling true crime sagas of the 1990s, with previous American Crime Story projects including 2018’s The Assassination of Gianni Versace and 2016’s The People Vs. OJ Simpson.

Murphy is collaborating on the project with Ian Brennan. The limited series is set to hit the streaming service later this year.
