Bethenny Frankel didn’t mince words when she shared her opinions on the Kardashians and the Jenners for their blatant use of Photoshop.
The 51-year-old former Real Housewives of New York star was arrested in New York by a TMZ reporter and asked for his thoughts on the phenomenon.
“It’s not fair to women who are just trying to get by. It’s irresponsible, it’s reckless, it’s not inspirational, it’s not aspirational,” the Bravo star said.
It comes days after Kim was raked over the embers for smoothing her neck in a pool photo.
Fed up: Bethenny Frankel didn’t mince words on Friday morning as she spoke candidly about her feelings for the Kardashians and their blatant use of Photoshop
Bethenny, who is the mother of 12-year-old daughter Brynn Hoppy, added: “It’s destructive.” It creates eating disorders, insecurity, depression. It’s a serious thing.
The media personality was in the Big Apple to stop by CBS for an interview with Gayle King about beauty.
Dressed in a classic pink blazer and multi-coloured patterned skirt, the outspoken mogul was firm in her stance against the misleading images that pervade social media.
She continued her rant: “Moms don’t feel safe. … They don’t have time to do all that [editing]they don’t even know how [with] technology.’
Comparison: A few days ago, the former Bravo TV star took to Instagram to demonstrate just how “misleading” editing can be, posting an edited image of herself in a bikini with the original photo just right after.
‘NOT what I look like’: In the first image, Bethenny showed off a slimmed waist and enhanced cleavage as she posed on a beach
Bethenny insisted, “The more we see these images, the more we think they are real. It becomes a false ideal.
She advised: “People should just be happy with who they are – wear makeup, if you want to have plastic surgery and be honest about it, that’s your business. But speaking squarely of plastic surgery, filtering, and photoshopping, the playing field becomes really, absolutely uneven.
“When you’re already a billionaire, you have access to so much more…and it makes people feel uneasy.”
Days prior, the former Bravo TV star took to Instagram to demonstrate how “misleading” editing can be, posting an edited image of herself in a bikini.
In the caption, the entrepreneur explained how damaging the filters can be, as she called them “inaccurate”.
Before and after: Kim in her original post (L) and in the version posted by commercial photographer Caroline Ross after she “corrected” her
“Filtering is lying: it is deceptive. It makes women feel bad about themselves. It makes young girls insecure and obsessed with unattainable perfection,” she wrote. “It makes middle-aged women and mothers insecure.”
Her thoughts continued as she added, “It creates a false ideal for men. It is the opposite of inspiring. It is destructive. It’s irresponsible. It’s not safe and it’s inaccurate. There’s a fine line between making an effort to look pretty and outright lying.
Kim also came under scrutiny for her extensive editing by commercial photographer Caroline Ross, who took to TikTok to voice her concerns.
The ladies always look so perfect: left to right, Kendall, Kim and Kylie
To reveal the apparent editing work, Ross used a Photoshop tool and “corrected” the image to show what Kim’s neck naturally looked like before it was supposedly thinned.
“Kim K is known for Photoshopping her tricks,” said Caroline, who goes by Caroline In The City on TikTok. ‘Why? I don’t know, maybe it makes his neck look smaller. But this area here has been photoshopped.
Getting super technical, the pro noted, “When we zoom in, we can see that the water pattern behind her here has been distorted. Using Photoshop’s liquefaction tool, I will now show you how it would look without Photoshopping applied.
As you can see the water reflection in the background is also starting to look a lot more natural, we don’t have that distorted effect.
“We also have a behind-the-scenes video from the shoot to compare as well,” she said before showing a screenshot of the clip.
Nearly a month ago, Bethenny also used chosen words to describe her displeasure with Kardashian’s skincare line, SKN by Kim.
While Bethenny was ultimately pleased with the “quality” skincare products, she called the packaging “inconvenient at best”, compared it to a Rubik’s Cube and said they were “probably a little too expensive”.
‘Packaging. This is an eye cream. It’s bulbous. I don’t understand, because it doesn’t stack…it doesn’t even have a flat bottom, so it’s effectively like an egg. I guess it has a tiny bit of a flat bottom, but that’s impractical at best,” she explained.
She also had a pick bone with the exfoliator, a scrub that came in a bulky container that Bethenny imagined difficult to carry.
“It’s just not practical, and I’m a very practical and organized person. It shocks me because the Kardashians don’t organize their candy by color?’ she scoffed.
Another opinion: Bethenny slammed Meghan Markle, accusing her of acting like an ex-Real Housewives star who left the show ‘but can’t stop talking about it’
Frankel also recently launched a tirade against Meghan Markle, accusing her of being “judgmental” and “sufficient” while insisting that she must stop publicly castigating the Royal Family and “let it go”.
She didn’t hide anything as she spoke about her thoughts on Meghan’s recent explosive interview with The Cut and her recently released Spotify podcast during her own iHeart Just B podcast.
Although she admitted she had faced criticism in the past for voicing her views on Meghan, 41, Bethenny said she felt she could not ignore the controversies surrounding the Duchess of Sussex, because it’s something everyone talks about and “has an opinion.” on.’
Describing the mother-of-two as a “polarizing” person, Bethenny went on to explain why the tides of public opinion seem to have turned against Meghan a lot in recent months.
“At the end of the day, I don’t think people like Meghan Markle because I think she talks to other people, I think she’s judgmental,” the former Bravo star said.
“I think there is this subtext of elevation. She is up there, we are here.
The 51-year-old called the Duchess of Sussex, 41, ‘judgmental’ and ‘smug’ while speaking to Meghan’s recently released podcast and recent interview with The Cut
Bethenny went on to accuse Meghan of having a high and powerful opinion of herself, suggesting the former Suits star thinks she “just has institutional knowledge about life and lived more than anyone of us”.
Comparing her to the women who appeared alongside her in the Real Housewives franchise, Bethenny continued, “She is very important. She’s a lot like a housewife in that she can’t help but talk about the very thing she wants to be irrelevant.
“If she was on the show, the producers would be like, ‘Stop talking about safety and the state of Frogmore Cottage. It’s not relatable. Most people don’t have security details, so while that might be a real concern for you, it’s not something that’s going to play out to that audience. “’
The ex-Housewives star also accused Meghan of trying to emulate Princess Diana in the way she positions herself publicly, saying: “I think there is an irrelevant factor in the way we are speak.”
“In this calm and orchestrated elegance, in this imitation of Diana, in this intentional, very natural and very slow speech à la Caroline Kennedy. Being appalled by the word “diva”. Who are you related to?
Her two cents: Bethenny accused Meghan of “creating more drama” for Prince Harry, 37, by repeatedly disparaging his family in interviews and on his podcast, Archetypes
